Training Rota for North Tyneside Council Beach Lifeguards

Summer 2006

Once again, NSVL will be undertaking the staff training for North Tyneside Council’s beach lifeguards during the summer season.

NSVL training sessions will take place on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 10am-12 noon before the beaches get too busy.

Training will encompass all elements of the lifeguard syllabus: theory, life support, first aid and rescue skills.

Off-duty lifeguards and NSVL lifeguards who are not employed by the Council are encouraged to attend these training sessions either to train or to provide lifeguard cover for the beach (dependent on beach usage).

NSVL Lifeguards should contact Lifeguard Captain Dave Bedford with their availability to attend sessions on 07716 838 953.

Full uniform will be provided, though you may wish to bring your own wetsuit. You will be free to go once the training session has finished, or you will be welcome to stay on the beach and patrol with the other lifeguards.

For those who aren’t working on the beach, providing cover during these training sessions this will be good experience to see how the beaches operate, especially if you intend to get a job next year. In most cases you will also be able to participate in the training yourself and get it signed off.
