Fife

Seasonal Beach Lifeguards

£6.10 per hour : Temporary from June until August 2006

Based at Aberdour, Burntisland, St Andrews and Elie beaches, duties include patrolling of foreshore, litter patrol, initiating rescue procedures for bathers in difficulty, administering first aid and maintenance of toilet blocks.

A current RLSS National Pool Lifeguarding qualification and experience of dealing with members of the public is essential. You must be willing to gain the National Beach Lifeguard Qualification for which training will be provided.

Hours include weekend working paid at an enhanced rate.

Seasonal Beach Lifeguard Supervisor

£6.10 per hour + chargehand and enhancements

37 hrs/wk : Temporary from June to end of August 2006

Based at Glenrothes and covering Aberdour, Burntisland, Elie and St Andrews beaches, duties include supervision of Beach Lifeguards, maintenance of beach equipment, implementation of Health & Safety and liaising with beach users and other operators.

Before an appointment can be confirmed you will be subject to a Scottish Criminal Records Enhanced Disclosure Check and a mandatory Health Assessment.

South Tyneside

Beach Lifeguard - £5.85 per hour full time.

Required from 22 May 2006 until 4 September 2006.

Working in a busy seaside location, you will be required to work 5 days per week including Saturday and Sunday, to provide a comprehensive beach/water safety service.

You must have a current RLSS Beach Lifeguard Award or be willing to undertake the appropriate training, whilst a First Aid at Work qualification and a Boat Handling qualification would be desirable. You must be a strong swimmer and be able to apply lifesaving skills.

Burnham-on-Sea

Salary Range £5.80 to £6.74 per hour (Subject to Job Evaluation)

Located within a 7-mile stretch of sandy beaches, the resort of Burnham-on-Sea is a popular holiday destination that operates to the prestigious EnCams Seaside Award. We wish to appoint three Beach Lifeguards for the summer season 2006, working within the premier resort of Burnham-on-Sea from June to September.

RNLI Beach Lifeguards

The RNLI Beach Lifeguards service is now the main employer of lifeguards in the following areas and is now taking applications for the 2006 season:

Lifeguard Supervisor

To assist the Area Lifeguard Manager in the management of the lifeguard team and the provision of the lifeguard service. To deputise for the Area Lifeguard Manager as and when required.

Applicants must hold a current RLSS or SLSA Beach Lifeguard qualification and be able to fulfil the fitness criteria below. Previous supervisory experience is essential and teaching/training qualifications are desirable. You must also be a member of a volunteer lifeguard club.

Rate: £8.41per hour
Hours: 40-45 per week

Senior Lifeguard

To supervise the running of a Beach Rescue Unit ensuring effective provision of the lifeguard service. To give help and advice to beach and water users and to provide and /or co-ordinate rescue activities as and when required.

Applicants must hold a current RLSS or SLSA Beach Lifeguard qualification and be able to fulfil the fitness criteria below. Previous supervisory experience is desirable. You must also be a member of a volunteer lifeguard club.

Rate: £7.36 per hour
Hours: 40-45 per week

Lifeguard (Grades 1-3)

To monitor and advise beach and water users and to provide / co-ordinate rescue activities
under the supervision of a Senior Lifeguard.

Applicants must hold a current RLSS or SLSA Beach Lifeguard qualification and be able to fulfil the fitness criteria below. You must also be a member of a volunteer lifeguard club.

Rate: Between £6.30 and £6.61per hour (depending on experience)
Hours: 40-45 per week

200m pool swim in 3.5 mins
400m pool swim in 7.5 mins
25m pool swim underwater & 25m surface swim consecutively in 50 secs
200m beach run in 40 secs
