Get Involved!

Get fit, save lives, have fun!

Although saving lives is a serious business, that doesn't mean you can't have fun. Our training sessions are intended to be fun for everyone involved.

It's up to you how involved you want to get - whether it's just a recreational swim or a fitness thing, you can train how you want to. Whatever your intentions and abilities, with over 150 members you are sure to find someone at the same level.

We also have a great social side to the club, with regular pizza nights and other social events.

If you are aged 13 to adult you can just drop in and see what we're about with no obligation. (Due to high interest there is a waiting list for Rookies under 13.)

Pool sessions take place at Whitley Bay Leisure Pool (directions), while beach sessions take place from our beach headquarters (directions).

Pool entry is £2.00 per week for both junior and senior members. Members who assist in any capacity (teaching, lifeguarding, poolside helper) during the Rookies session are entitled to free admission to the 6-7pm session.

Additionally, at the end of school terms a fun session will be arranged to which pool entry is free for all. There is no charge for attending the training sessions at the beach, though we encourage people also to attend the pool sessions.

New recruits are welcome to come along for a taster for two weeks without obligation, but if you decide to attend regularly you must become a member for insurance purposes. Current membership rates are £10 per year senior and £5 per year junior.

Community Open Access Training

NSVL can run a variety of Community Outreach courses which are suitable for all sections of society. The course teaches a variety of lifesaving skills, from how to deal with a heart attack, placing someone in the recovery positions, adult CPR, bleeding and choking. For further details visit the Heartstart page.
